Working with unaccompanied minors
As a result of Directive 1/2020, which enables foreign minors of working age to work, along with the flexibility measures in agriculture work for young persons between 18 and 21 years old and young persons formerly under guardianship, a team of pro bono lawyers from Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has undertaken an arduous and extensive analysis of all regulations in this area and those subject to the regulation and the practical application thereof. We hope that this document reaches a large number of young people that may take advantage of this new employment opportunity.
Additionally, the recommendations of the Ombudsman and new case law have highlighted the complexity that minors under guardianship and young people formerly under guardianship face when obtaining or renovating their residence permits. Therefore, along with the analysis, we are working diligently with the legal team of Pueblos Unidos to create a basic guide that sets out all formalities and obstacles that young people face during these procedures, as well as certain solutions to housing problems once they reach legal age.
