RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS

Since then, we have been actively researching how we could take specific action and have taken steps towards this end by publishing relevant material and carrying out various research projects.

AWARENESS IN THE LEGAL PRACTICE

The role of the legal profession as a guarantor of justice and promoter of human rights has led us to champion the cause of human rights and business as a matter of the legal profession. As such, since 2013 we have provided training and awareness to company legal affairs departments and law firms that advise companies on the involvement that companies can have in respect of human rights. UNIVERSITY TRAINING

Systemic changes require changes in education and call for involvement by the university. In order to involve the legal profession in ensuring that companies comply with human rights, since 2013 we have been imparting courses on this matter at various law schools. Our objective is to achieve a hybrid model of the legal profession where corporate experts are familiar with human rights and where human rights experts are versed in corporate matters. The future calls for this blended specialisation, for corporate sustainability, in order to promote responsible business and uphold human rights.
