Pro Bono culture

Pro Bono is free legal advice for underprivileged groups that may not be attended by public defenders. We are the first pro bono coordination centre (clearinghouse) in Spain, and since its creation, we have optimised our work method and innovation capacity to make a greater impact in all that we do.
Our leadership and prestige in the pro bono practice and outside of the country has led us to take up executive positions on the Pro Bono Committee of the International Bar Association and the Global Forum of Pro Bono PILnet since 2014. Additionally, we have teamed up with the General Council of Spanish Law to promote pro bono practice in its 2015-2020 strategic plan.
Reconocimientos

Since then, we have been actively researching how we could take specific action and have taken steps towards this end by publishing relevant material and carrying out various research projects.

PROMOTION OF PRO BON CULTURE IN UNIVERSITIES

Systemic changes require changes in education and call for involvement by the university. In order to involve the legal profession in ensuring that companies comply with human rights, since 2013 we have been imparting courses on this matter at various law schools. Our objective is to achieve a hybrid model of the legal profession where corporate experts are familiar with human rights and where human rights experts are versed in corporate matters. The future calls for this blended specialisation, for corporate sustainability, in order to promote responsible business and uphold human rights.
